Dream House: Where & What would you buy

Am I the only person here who thinks their current digs (as humble as mine is) is their dream house?

I know what you mean. I love our house because it has evolved to suit our lifestyle. I still love to look at "house porn" though :D.

I do wonder if many people actually use home theatres. We have a large tv in a living room off our kitchen and I can cook or make coffee whilst watching the news. Shows that I really don't want to miss one second of, I pause the TV if I need to do something that I cannot devote my eyes totally to the telly, but otherwise, I can potter in the kitchen whilst watching.

I don't think I would ever be bothered making a trip to a dedicated home theatre. Sure as eggs, I'd have to pause the show because I forgot the peanuts, or whatever. Those home theatres actually don't appeal at all.

What other rooms do others see as a "waste"?

There are things I'd love, but don't have... a large walk in wardrobe as a start.

This is ridiculous!!

I don't much like the house, but I like the position, position, position.

I also think it a bit strange having "people" in the photos in the kitchen and on the tennis court?

And five helicopters and a small plane? I wonder if they come in the $30M price.

If that was a Queensland home the commission would be $750,450.

Yes that is a bit wierd your right!! lol yes the house isnt much but location is prime wonder who the owner is they must be well known to be selling a house at this price!!

None of those waterfront mansions do anything for me... I am a bit of a country boy stuck inside a city dweller's body. Give me 25-40 acres, room for some horses and some vineyards and dogs and I will be a happy camper. Maybe I can move in with lizzie.

Country with mountain and countryside views - check
25+ acres - check
horses, dogs - check
vineyard of your own (and views over others) - check
6 bay enclosed shed - check
pool - check
tennis court - check
combustion fireplace - check
huge ensuite with bath with views - check

Well - I guess I've already bought into paradise ... or it will be after six months or so of hard graft to thrash the house/garden/fencing into shape.

Hubby has just gone to buy me a ride on mower (zero turn) - I've designed the new kitchen - ducted aircon in - light fittings choosen - new carpet going down as we speak ... time to get on the end of the poison spray gun

Just the description on paper sounds so awesome. I bet, experiencing it would be mesmerising :)

I have had my dream house. (well , it was at the time)
I designed this house and it lived in my mind for 10 years before we built it on a 5 acre block in the middle of Morayfield. The funny thing was when we built it we had to mirror reverse it to suit the block and it threw me out for ages!
We sold to developers about 7 years ago and it is now on the market again on a much smaller portion. Unfortunately when they subdivided they made the back of the house the front.

When you look at the photos where the office desk is used to be the entrance with 2 lovely timber doors and the "new" entrance was the dining area giving onto the deck. FYI the deck was rated as 210 person capacity and had over 7000 twisty stainless nails all hand hammered in:eek: (we did half)

It also has an awesome (for me) walk in robe with built in shelves/drawers etc.

A friend of mine is living his own dream.

I've no idea what the house is like. Probably nothing too flash.

But it's on his own island in the Philippines.

It is populated but not with a big population.

I've always dreamed of having an island... Apparently there are still some that can be bought for as little as $1mil!

PS Those houses at "Sovs" are quite eye capturing!
