Growing pains

Knows more about getting repeat business by the sound of it.

... and you also know nothing about it so are in no position to "debunk".

Wylie has just shown a link above that explains that bones "do" grow faster than muscle in some - and therefore it is possible that "growing pains" and Osgood-Schlatter may be linked ... and if kids can suffer from this condition as a pre-teen - why couldn't not not suffer from it all their growing period.

Strangely enough - or perhaps not - junior always seems to get the pains significantly worse during a "growth" spurt ... that is ... a period where she grows quickly and measurably in a short space of time.

If you actually sit down and rationalise it (something women struggle with I know ) you would more than likely find the aches are likely to coincide with increased physical activity.

As I said, there is no evidence linking growing pains to " growth spurts "
Measurable overnight growth is stuff of "fairytales"

Regardless a chiropractor isn't out to remove the cause of any issue anyway.

Not at all. Has continued to help me with issues that doctors have long given up on. Couldn't recommend her highly enough. Want her number?

You mean continue to help you put more money in her pocket?
As I've alluded to, if you're regularly visiting a chiropactor, then you aren't treating the cause of the issue.

Not according to the link... did you even read it?

What a load of rubbish. Chiropractors indeed try to remove the cause of issues. I have had hip issues and now shoulder issues. Chiro is helping to manage the cause, hopefully will help my muscles strengthen enough to hold my shoulder in the position it needs to be in to allow the tendon to glide through the shoulder without the narrowing of the joint, caused by my posture. Chiro and physio are helping enormously. They are focusing on the cause. No quick ten minute visit like happens at the doctor.

Again, what would you know about me, my chiro or my shoulder. Pfffft! (My chiro is amazing.)

So you're regularly visiting a chiro and a physio and you believe you're treating the cause????
If the cause is postural as you've just mentioned, you won't be treating the cause at all.

Pilates is the only thing that will correct imbalances and postural issues that have been established through a lifetime a bad habits.

Xenia, if the pain continues, you could think about getting a referral to a paediatrician (or you may have done that; I don't know). My eldest had a raft of health issues when she was younger. GPs, specialists and paediatricians couldn't work it out. At one stage she was unable to walk. We ended up taking her to a paediatrician in Sydney who had also studied anthroposophical medicine (he was a trained paediatrician as well). He worked it out and fixed her. I am happy to pm you his name if you decided you want to try him.

I have a fantastic naturopath, but generally with children, imho, I would steer clear of an alternative therapist that you've not had experience with and who is likely to give your child a lot of herbs et cetera.

btw, I have had really big problems with my back and shoulders and massage and osteopathy were a huge help. I think you do whatever works for you.

Never said I knew anything about your Chiro or yourself.
The only thing I know about your shoulder is that you have a massive chip on it. :D

Perhaps if the chip were removed, your posture would improve..... not to mention your bank balance????

Pilates is great. But the cause is not always 'postural'. Mine came about after sitting writing and at a computer for up to 16 hours a day--it had nothing to do with posture.

What a load of bollocks. Why do you think a chiro and physio cannot treat the cause of a problem???

Pilates is good. I've done it for years, on and off.

It costs me $12 for a chiro visit. Hardly stringing me along in order to make herself rich...

Oh... and I am not correcting a lifetime of bad habits.

And I don't have a chip on my shoulder. You seem to not be able to accept that there are chiros or physios who can help solve problems. I am quite open to seeing what works. Are you?

It couldn't not have had something to do with posture.
Sitting at a computer for 16 hours a day is posture isn't it?

Posture is everything.

As I've said if you're regularly visiting a chiro and a physio, then you aren't getting anywhere.
You can't possibly be, otherwise you wouldn't need to go at all.
How is this problem solving?

If you've got imbalances, then you've had bad habits, accept it, rectify it, move on.

I am getting somewhere. I am getting results. I am doing exercises that are helping my shoulder to sit and stay in the correct position. I don't have bad habits as such, I have a slight leg length difference that isn't noticeable to the eye but has a knock-on effect for my whole skeletal set up... but what would I know? You don't know me, but you clearly know best... clearly you know more than my physio and chiro. Thanks for the advice

I don't know why I'm even bothering to answer this.

I also see a foot doctor who is helping with orthotics. Is that silly too? I think he might have a yacht soon.

I'll leave you now to have the last say on my health and my problems :roll eyes:

I just think you rolled out of bed on the wrong side this morning. Perhaps you should see your chiropractor.

I think you have a sensitivity issue.
Somebody tries to steer you in the right direction, simplify it for you.

Anyway it sounds like you've got all bases covered and enjoy the drama.
Foot Doctor, Physio, Chiro etc :D

That is right. All those people are helping me with a long running issue. Oh how I love the drama. You got me picked.

Over and out on this one. There is a saying about arguing with ....

I said last post I would allow you the last comment, so over to you now. I'm out.
