No. As I have said. I am not advocating smaller lenders paying lower rates. As I said, I agree that smaller lenders must pay "market" rates according to their risk profile.

Excuse my ignorance, but isn't this what already happens? The cost of funds for lower credit rated insto's has increased, which is why their rates have increased. What's the problem? The money is still there, they just have to pay more for it, as have the majors.

For what it's worth, I'd like to see as little govt. intervention as possible when it comes to the financial markets.

Agreed, Steve - particularly as we are now seeing the effects of all the 'unintended consequences'.
