Insurance for appliances and some repairs

Hi everyone,

Ive just opened up my latest rental statement and in the normally enclosed junk mail, there was a interesting pamphlet about some different kind of insurances available.

http://www.propertycover.com.au/index.php

Appliance cover lists that it covers repair or replacement of some things such as hws, oven, dryer, cooktop for $186 or a/c, fridge, washing machine, dishwasher for $186 or all for $354.

Now this has got me thinking, say I take out the first package, for hws, oven, cooktop and dryer for $186 per year, I guess it seems like good peace of mind if any one of those items needs repair.

Obviously for a IP that is relatively new, and has appliances in the warranty period, this wouldnt be that great to take out?

In the last year for one of my IP's, Ive spend that much just replacing the pressure valve on the HWS.

Another piece of junk mail says you can take out an insurance policy to cover 4 callouts for things such as unblocking drains, replace hws thermostat etc etc.

What are everyones thoughts on these?
