Insurance Brokers

I am wondering how people go about organising insurance on their properties. This can be quite a time consuming task, particularly with landlord, building and sometimes contents insurance on a number of properties. Do you use insurance brokers? How do you qualify the brokers? How do you ensure you are getting competitive rates?

Can anyone recommend a good broker in Victoria with experience in IPs?

Used brokers recommended by members of the local Property Owners Association. They were meeting market needs the big insurers wouldn't cater for at first. Got good service and the brokers were more value than the call centres of the insurers.

However there was a case somewhere or other where a broker forgot to forward a fee to an insurer and guess what happened. Resolution: as well as getting the policy and receipt from the broker, we shot a quick note off to the insurer to confirm the acceptance of the policy and remittance of the fee to it.
