IP settlement gone through and things don't work

Have taken possession of IP property this week and find ducted A/C doesn't work. Where do we stand legally? Can we ask the vendor to repair it? Also found water damage on curtains that wasn't there on auction day.

If settlement has gone through, guess what, youre the vendor now. Did you do a final inspection before settlement?

The IP should have been presented to you in the same condition as the signing of the contract. If the air conditioner was inspected on the signing of the contract and found to have been working it should be of the same working order at settlement. Same with the condition of the curtains.

Once settlement has occurred you own the property.

See if there is any paperwork for the air conditioning system, it may be under warranty.

Unless you buy a brand new house, there are often a few unpleasant surprises, usually minor. Washing the curtains should get rid of water stains, at least to a degree acceptable in an IP.
