Mr Nelson Mandela

"I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal I hope to live for and to achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die."

The above words from his trial. He served 27 years in jail where, for many years, he was brutalized and subjected to great humiliation (some of his guards took pleasure in urinating on him).

When he was released, he invited some of the same prison guards to his wedding.

Godspeed Nelson.
