Not happy with Dale ??

Perusing PI.COM and came across this a few days ago, now's there's additional posts there against TRUST MAGIC, I think there's been something being lost in the interpretation of the book and people not reading it fully (am i wrong??)

I've read the page you linked, and there are basically one or two people (who hide behind screen names) who have a problem with it - and both freely admit they are not experts in trusts.

PI.com is a joke. Its a site that caters to the lowest common denominator, where you cant even read a post without one of $teve's intrusive seminar or book ads in your way or some greenhorn asking where to buy positive cashflow property.

Its more a venue for idiots to go so $teve can sign them up for something.

Is it any wonder most informed Somersoft readers dont read PI.com?

Dale has spent over 5 years dispensing great advice on this site and has asked nothing in return.. so too have great accountants like Coastymike, MRY, Corsa and Julia.

I would hazard a guess that none of them would care at all that some faceless person is defaming Dale on a site most people treat as a joke.

If this "Lislym" from your clown site would like to ask him a question in person, Im sure Dale would be only too happy to respond. His phone number is available on his website.

If you'd like to post on $teve's site, tell her there are people here waiting for her sage advice (as an accountant that "isn't an expert" and is "still learning"), while she defames not only a great accountant, but a terrific bloke.

As a recipient of Dale's time and effort in the past, I know who I'd listen to.

A fellow member here told me not long ago, he read a post on PI.com. Someone was asking about interest only loans, where a moderator replied, with something along the lines of: "Aren't they illegal?".

Also, regarding Trust Magic, though my copy may be slightly "outdated", I have found it to be a great resource to help understand the basics of trusts. I have no problem with it whatsoever.

Hi

Today is a very sad day....

I was alerted to the post on the other forum and have just responded on that forum.

I am not the best accountant in the country and I am not the sharpest tool in the shed, but, I always try to do my research before making decisions.

Oh well.....

Hi Dale :)

The very nature of public forums means that you are going to come across a mixed bunch of personalities; some of which will include loonies, crazy egotists, narrow minded bigheads, liars, malicious gossipmongers and just plain idiots. Forget about them and hold your head high.
Your TRUST MAGIC series are terrific and readable- and that's saying a lot for publications written by an accountant!!!

Hiya

there will always be differences of opinion......and interpretation........even though sometimes that opinion comes from people looking at things out of context.

The one part I thought was really funny was to see what the ATO thinks ......................:O). Going to the tax office to get tax advice - I LUV it. It puts th whole post into context

So Mr Dracula, what was it that you wanted to know about the blood bank :O

Dale, you are a star!

And your contributions on Somersoft are highly valued, based on sound judgement, and assist somersoft members work within the constructs of the law to maximise their financial scenarios.

PI is a joke, I have met one of the moderators personally through various conferences in Adelaide and I can tell you this guy knows absolutely nothing - actually let me write that a bit nice - knows not that much about property investing or finance.

Keep up the great work, there will always be a couple of people who dont get on board with your views/concepts.

would've loved to have seen that post on this site - there would've been blood on the floor, walls, ceiling.

trust magic is such a good, and simple, read for laypeople like myself i gave it to my accountant (who is very knowledgable about trusts) and he was very very impressed.

we love ya dale!

My goodness, lislym is really putting her foot in her mouth. I learned long ago that you never ever criticise another accountant. That will make you look like a fool and you will lose clients and your reputation. If you have a problem with someone else's advice, state your position and quote references. Trust me, I have a lot of great stories I could share which would keep you in stitches for days over what some accountants have done.

DaleGG acted as ever the perfect gentleman. Although that line he gave - 'I am devastated to read the comments in this thread, but, they were brought to my attention by someone who thought they were defamatory....' should have been replaced with "YOU WANT A WAR!!!!! COME GET SOME!!!!! I am an l33t uber accountant!!!"

That advice about going and reading section 8-1 cracks me up. As if that section settled each and every discussion on what you can and can't claim as a tax deduction.

This is like a university - the other place is like a kindergarten...

Dale, i'd hardly be losing sleep over this particular thread - it's moronic posts and topics like this one that led me to stop posting here a long time ago...

Pretty much sums it up FatBoy. I remember reading that forum back in 2003 and thought what a load of crap..

I was in pretty much the same boat Frank... ;)

I should add the quote you posted was what i put on PI.com and was aimed at that forum and not this one in case anyone was wondering !! :)

Cheers,
Paul...

Original posting

" I am a property investor and have been an accountant for the past 10 years. I have only been doing tax for the past 2 years (was previously commercial) and am trying to find out more information on different trust setups and the tax implications, just as you all are. So I bought Dale's book. Well...... I passed it around our tax practice and everyone was horrified. "

"Now obviously I am far from an expert, but I would advise anyone who has read this book not to take his advice on board. If you do you may find yourself in a spot of bother if you ever get audited.
Thanks
Lisa

OK
I know it's not nice talking about what's mentioned on another site

However, there are some key things to look at
1. Only two years experience in tax
2. She's trying to find out more about trusts
3. What do her colleages specialise in .......if they are accountants?
4. She even recognises shes "no expert"

So, compared that with Dale's expertise
well Dale
I believe it's a Sad day for Lisa not you!! :D

and the way you present the book makes it easier for me to understand, Thanks!

I'm getting the feeling I know who you're talking about ... if this person regularly attends AREIG, that is.

Hi Guys

Thank you for your kind words of encouragement; I do appreciate it.
Funny thing is though....I HAVE actaully worn genuine cowboy boots for a long, long time!

Maybe I sould be worried about the hidden camera under my desk! Mind you, if all they saw was my boots then I can relax for a while....:D

Dear all, I really don’t understand why all the fuss about this post???. It’s clear to me that 90% to 95% of the population think and act totally different to the rest 5% or so. Hence, there are some hard and standard facts like retiring at 65 years of age and broke as well as many other “negative” things very common to the majorities…

It may sound hard but, if the majority of the population were serious investors, were using trust structures and accountants of Dale caliber, the world as we know it now would be a different place. It’d be much hard and competitive!!! (in other words, it’d be more difficult for us).

Let’s face it; the 95% of the population make us look good without having to do a great effort.:D

To the 95% of you: please, don’t read and use Trust structures and don’t read books about it. Do your taxes using ATO telephone assistance (it’s cheap and effective), work hard and safe some money in your Bank accounts (this is safe and the way to go). Your people need you, your country needs you and we really need you.:)

Cheers!.

Dale,

what colour cardigan goes with your cowboy boots? (accounting joke?)

Disclaimer: I am also an accountant, and for what its worth I find beige goes with everything:D

That hb guy has got no idea. Good thing he checked with his local MP first!

No wonder I stopped visiting PropertyInvesting.com with people like that.
