Over 50's insurance.

It was suggested to my wife today that she consider some of the companies that have large discounts for those that are bit older than others.;)

Has anyone had any experience with any of these companies?

They claim Discounts of up to 40%.for both LL and house and contents which when you have a few can add up to a reasonable amount.

Haven't heard of it but it looks ok!

Interesting coincidence given the hike over 50's pay for medical cover that was highlighted in yesterday's news....who said there was never any give and take in our society!

You will find a lot of the time that just about every insurer already discounts on age... well price on age.

A lot of these just target elderly with marketing.

I've often quoted H & C Insurance for over 55s who are with APIA and have been cheaper.

As always it pays to shop around and that doesn't mean price. You have insurance to cover you for when something goes wrong, no point paying for something that doesn't cost much if it doesn't cover anything.

RACQ offers discount on Home and Content insurance ($190/pa) if one has the Australian Senior card ( costs $40 to join). Net saving is $150/pa

Like with any insurance- read the PDS.

There seem to be a lot of "may"s in there.

We "may" give you a discount.
We "may" cover loss of rent etc etc.

Make sure you are "really" getting what you think you have paid for.
