Period home gardening

ive got an 80's home but i want it to be more period so say 60's style property i guess

what kind of plants would look goo din the front garden? im thinking Agapanthus Snowball or similar? and having a brick plant box i too

also a plant for a hegde for the backfence too - pittosporum or similar?

1960's gardening was just so non-imaginative I can't imagine why anyone would want to go back to that. And there are many houses in that area from that era which haven't changed a leaf since then - so you'd just be making your place look like everyone else's. Boring.

Agapanthus is a pest plant in Mornington.
