Point Cook, VIC

since the point cook town centre was built, there is pretty much every service you could need...new schools will be springing up in the area also. you could spend $500k in the south east on a much older house and be even further from such services

I just spoke to someone the other day who is trying to sell in alamanda

basically, (quote )
the people there are nt looking after the properties very well, and prices have fallen quite dramatically and will be harder to sell cos everyone is selling.

I dont know how much truth there is to that, but she claimed that something she bought for $530k is now selling for Mid $400s.

No trees in Point cook

Actually I was referring to Tarneit, not Point Cook. Tarneit is like farmland

I visited Point Cook, Tarneit area this weekend and was amazed to find how different it looks as compared to other parts of Melbourne.

No lush green trees and no parks over there, just open lands, salty waters and house boxes... looked so artificial. Bad public transport and scarcity of good and cheap shopping areas...

yeah further down there's like barren land in point
But once the estate like alamanda and featherbrook get up and running with their parks and lakes - similar like sanctuary lakes they should be ok.

you are correct.
but in few years ( dont know how long ) the planted trees should grow ;)
but i dont think you can still compare to the leafy neighbourhoods in the east..thats still a long way...

LOL, yes, that's right! They need to plant more trees!

You can't compare West & East now. West has just started for the past 10 years or so to catch up. I'd say they are about 30 years apart in terms of infrastructures & other stuffs! :p

It's a matter of looking into long term rather than "now".

got to compare apples with apples - can't expect to have the leafy roads and infrastructure like camberwell, toorak without paying a hefty price tag.

I would prefer to live in east anyday anytime. Places like Ringwood etc( of same distance as Point Cook from CBD) are better to *LIVE*. I know guys this issue has come up a lot of times and there is an argument of EAST vs. WEST. But truely speaking, I would prefer to live in east compared to west mainly due convenience. By convenience I mean better roads, transport, schools etc. Yes West is growing and it needs time to grow. After that probably it would be as GOOD. However till that time( dont know the time frame), EAST is better to live.

This is a property investment forum, most people on this forum are chasing the dollar, not figuring out which is the better place to live.

i live in the EAST too however - what can you do - if someone who works and earns 60K per annum and wants to own property of his own. There are many positives to staying the EAST - no question or arguement about that but it comes down to reality of how much you have and how much can you afford to pay. Many locals and migrants know this - so they just go with what they can afford.

It's like saying i love to eat at NOBU (high end restaurant) in crown casino but if i can only afford to eat mcdonalds - i would just eat mcdonalds. Same goes to flying business class vs economy , owning a porsche over a toyota corolla.

End of the day - it's also making the best return out of your money.
