Sealing wooden floor

I'm putting down new carpet in a room that smells musty. Is there a product I can use to "seal" the floor so the musty damp smell from the underfloor area doesn't permeate upwards? The underfloor area is well vented on all sides, and there is no damp in the walls.

I thought there may be some product I could put down before the underlay goes in, but don't know who to ask.

ace,
I have heard of using a bond-crete and water solution to seal floorboards before carpet. This is applied with a roller. The idea was originally to stop draughts and squeaks but should solve your problem in the field of the room .The perimeters under skirting may have to be caulked up also. steve,
