Sewer connection date - approximate build date

Hi all,

On a copy of the council sewer diagram attached to the contract, it has the connection date for each property.

Is this a good approximation of the date of build of the property ?

Thanks
Neil

Probably close - sure.

If it is a young property - check the label inside the meter box for an install date. Also try checking the manufacture date of the HWS (see label there).

It's not very young, estimated it was early 70's but sewer connection was 1981. HWS is 2001 and it has just had a new switchboard!!

Cheers

Depending where it is, it may not have had the sewer available until 1981 ??

After that we go to the type & colour of the bricks - I can usually tell within 5-10 years that way. If the original bathrooms & kitchens are still in, then that will date them to the decade also.

After that, we go to architectural style - arches (use of) and roof type & materials.

Good points Alan.

The lack of arches, and a yellowish tinge to the bricks
would suggest the date is about right to me?
