Shower Screens - Frameless worthwhile?

Do you tile the floor and put the base over it?

I thought the standard was to not tile inder the base?

Base was bed in silicone to substrate (yellow tongue then tile underlay) and checked into studs so wall sheeting ran into shower base lip. Floors were then waterproofed and tiled into shower base. From what a believe this method is the norm or a variation of..
