SIG Members - Advice of Sydney talk on Property Cycles by Phil Anderson- Monday 09/03

Hi all,
Because of the difficulty in obtaining a venue for a SIG meeting with the same speaker while he is in Sydney, Sydney members are directed to a meeting of the Upper North Shore Discussion Group (UNSDG) of Australian Investors Association to be held on the 9th March.
Thanks must go to Chris Horsfall for advising of this meeting!!

The talk is by Phil Anderson.

"Why an Investor must understand the Real Estate Cycle"

Phil Anderson is Managing Director and founder of Economic Indicator
Services (EIS), an economic forecasting service operating out of
London and Melbourne. EIS is an authority in the area of business,
real estate and commodity cycles. Subscribers to the service are
educated to the movements of these cycles in the economy, none more
important than the real estate cycle.

Author of the recently released The Secret Life of Real Estate: How
it moves and why, Phil will outline why real estate is not an almost
risk free investment. Share price volatility is compared unfavourably
with the steadier and impressive gains made from real estate which
is, we are told, 'as safe as houses'. However, as millions of
Americans - and countless others in the Western world - have recently
found to their cost, house prices can also suddenly and dramatically
drop. By understanding real estate cycles Phil will demonstrate how
such issues can be more effectively managed.

Date: Monday, 9 March 2009 from 7:00pm to 9:30pm
Venue: Roseville RSL Club, 64 Pacific Highway, Roseville.
Street parking is available on the Pacific Highway. Free
parking is available in the Council carpark in Larkin Lane behind the

Station, is a short walk from Roseville Station.

He was VERY interesting. His book looks great but some heavy reading.
I would have liked more property stuff and more on his 24hr clock.

He's a facts and figures man. He relates a lot of historical cycles and how that affects market forces. I'm a numbers/graphs person so it appealed to me. Very interesting stats from 1800's showing consistent cycles.

I loved his correlation between the length of womens' dresses and the stock market. Notice how dresses are long AND the market is low? Bring on the mini skirts.:D

For those that missed out on going here is another opportunity in sydney on Monday 16th, (I went to the previous session and thought if was excellent)

Phil Anderson is Managing Director of Economic Indicator Services (EIS), an economic forecasting service operating out of London and Melbourne. EIS is a leading authority in the area of business, real estate and commodity cycles. Subscribers to the service are educated to the movements of these cycles in the economy, none more important than the real estate cycle. 6.15pm: Phil Anderson: Out Look for 2009 & into 2010

During this talk Phil will discuss of how past real estate cycles ended and then moved into the new cycle,
what to look out for as the cycle moves, related in particular to the stock market
a brief look at how this fits with the next upside for the 5th Kondratieff commodity price wave.
Finally, if time permits, and allowing for questions, Phil will cover a few of the longer term market timing and counting techniques he has learnt from the writings of W.D. Gann, and how to fit this to the real estate cycle - something quite unique within Phil’s study and research of markets.
