What IF: Rates up...Boom over....That leaves Rents?

Your data and source look pretty solid to me. In relation to the OP's original postulation, do you have anything similar to show what happened to rents during/after that recession?


I didn't know. But I found this anyway. Rental yields? Bottom line.




Just as you'd expect, a bit similar to interest rates. Even has the little spike in 2007 just before the GFC hit when interest rates took off. And why wouldn't rental yields follow interest rates? If you could get 12% in a term deposit 25 years ago, why would you buy houses or shares with rental yields or dividend yields of 4%? It would be silly. So at times of high interest rates, rental yields and dividend yields should also be high.
