What to do in Brisbane

Hi guys

Our family is travelling to Surfers in 2 weeks for 9 days. Yipee! A holiday at last.

What are essentials to do in Brisbane.

Cheers, QB

Haha,
Well, besides visiting those two :)

Don't miss Southbank, site of old Expo '88 site. Man made beaches, entertainment and lovely grounds. Kids especially will love it. Craft markets there on Friday nights and weekends. Very relaxing :)

The Rivercats up there are great, for a river view of the city and suburbs. Cheap and usually run on time. Catch one just to have a water view of the Brissy bridges. Check out trendy waterside suburbs like Bulimba and New Farm. New Farm has some great old Art Deco blocks and a beautiful park. Again great for kids with a terrific timber climbing fort.

The Botanical Gardens are also worth visiting. In the city in Alice St.

Shopping is nice in the Myer Centre as well.

Have a great time QB!

Hi QB,

Since you are going to in Surfers, I recommend hire a car (plenty local hire company in surfers at cheaper price than the big guy avis/hertz/thrifty), drive up to brisbane for a few days.

Going along the coast you come to Brisbane. As Jacque mentioned, Southbank is lovely, so is the botanical and Mt Cootha (Brisbane city lookout). Going up is the Australia Zoo (www.australiazoo.com.au), of course home of the croc hunter. If you really like the beaches why not stop by Mooloolaba & Noosa.

cheers

QB ,
If it's a clear day/night don't miss a meal at the restaurant on Mt. Cootha.
The views are fabulous....and you can ponder our favourite topic ....all that property!

Lunch with me and Brenda! Oooooh...

You're on. Tell me the time and place and I'll be there. I'm staying at Turtle Beach Resort, so not too far away, I have an appalling sense of direction and easily get lost. Thus, the reason, when I try to read a map me and my partner always have an argument. And he won't ask damn directions.

I'm arriving Thurs 18th March and leaving on Saturday 27th.

Where are the good "cheap" markets. Where is IKEA, have you got one in Brisbane.

Cheers, QB

Queen Bee,
on your way up to brisbane, take the turnoff to Springbrook Numinbah valley
and have a look at natural bridge in the rainforest its breathtaking scenery
then on to the Lamington National Park, its worth the drive..
good luck
willair..

By the sounds of it, you will take a day to get from the Coast to Brisbane. at least everything is off the PACIFIC MOTORWAY. So, once you have done Numinbah and you like PIES, you MUST, that's right, MUST stop at Yatala Pies :D. It is off the Motorway and sits right next to it so you cannot get lost! Then, about 15 mins towards Brisbane is IKEA at Springwood. Again it sits right next to the Motorway and you can't get lost!

Has there ever been a BIG Lunch done before? I pressume that this one may be during the day?? We could probably organise a group for it, anyways, just an idea. I have had something come up for both of the last Meetings but my wife and I hope to get to the next and maybe even the Cashflow Game!!

Burrrpp! Yuck ...too much information ... I hope it wasn't a Yatala pie....perhaps a pizza and a six pack!

I jest, yes, go for the Yatala pies, they are great.

By the way everyone, if Queen Bee is going to visit the great Aussie bush, don't you think we should warn her about the DANGEROUS animals. eg snakes, crocodiles, .........not to mention the dreaded.......

...................................DROP BEARS .

GarryK ;)

Particularly the Western Grey BrisVegas Drop Bears!!

Don't want to be getting too close to them! Might have to get Steve down from the mountains to come and take a look at "the little beauties".

If you are staying in Surfers, and have the time, I would duck down the coast and visit beautiful Byron Bay. It's only an hour or so drive south from Surfers and is well worth it in my opinion.

Nat :)

How about the Property Marketers - while an endangered species, they are highly dangerous in the wild.

Apparently there are now a few in the Brisbane Zoo, or behind bars somewhere in any case.

Cheers,

There's an Ikea in Loganholme... oddly enough, on your way from the Gold Coast to my place!!!

hehe

Give me a call when you get here and we'll organise something!

SEE YOU SOON!!!

Everyone loves Yatala pies, but Goldsteins at Pacific Fair (and Harbourtown) are very good, and a lot easier to get to!

Harbourtown at Labrador (North part of the Gold Coast) is a huge factory outlet shopping centre. Well worth a visit.

Be aware that Brisbane is just over an hour from Surfers by car, which can be important if you have young kids!

Watch out if you go in the surf, the rips are nasty this time of year, swim between the flags and all that.

If you play golf, there are a squillion resort courses on the coast.

Pay a visit to Cleveland markets on a Sunday - Very nice (or Southbank and Riverside in the City on the weekend).

Bargains at Carrara Markets on the weekends (Nerang Broadbeach rd - Drive south to Jupiters casino/ Pacific Fair, turn right and you can't miss it).

And Australia Zoo, if you feel like the extra drive up the sunshine coast, is great.

EEK!

That weekend is very not good for me :(

It's our new opening.. :)

But you are all welcome to come at high noon and I'll make you sausages on the barbie!!! :)

Asy

Where r u and what are u opening?

Am I likely to see any spiders or snakes - I especially hate "big" spiders! haha. I'm going to have to write up an list of what I'm going to do - I'm soooo unorganised.

We doing all the Wet'n"Wild things and all that. I'm gonna have to come back home for a holiday.

How hot is it over there at the moment. It's totally crap in NZ. We've had about two and a half weeks of summer this year. But I hope it's not toooo hot, because I get really grumpy. And what kind of heat is it. Dry or sticky. I hate sweating as well. Mmmm - maybe I should just stay home.

Will catch up.
Cheers, QB
