where to buy- melbourne?

I am looking with about 640-670k range for something close to the city to buy. I am primarilly seeking investment opps, not to live in. Any ideas? Seeking potential for Capital growth. Medium term horizon [ plan to hold for another 6-7 yrs or so].

If a bigger property is what you're after maybe Abbotsford? It's growing fast and might be too late but there's some really nice houses & streets around there and it seems to be attracting young families. Not sure if you know Melbourne or not, Abbotsford is between Richmond & Collingwood. Also there's a lot of development going on around Collingwood in an attempt by council to make the area more appealing long-term. Maybe too long-term for you.

Buy in Richmond. Try to find a terrace house with car parking as these hold their value quite well and have done very well in the past few years as the suburb becomes more and more popular.
