Adding colour to concrete

Hi,

Does anyone have experience with colouring concrete? I was under the impression that the most common method was to add the colouring agent in powder form to the concrete as it set.

I've been told that there is an alternative method of adding colour in a paint/sealer form after the concrete is set. I'm keen to know which will give me a better life span on a driveway.

The concreter I plan to use tells me that there is little difference and the paint form is cheaper. He also tells me both options require regular resealing which I wasn't aware of.

Any advice would be most appreciated.

cheers,
Tom

Hi,

I have painted a doorways to clean up a property. :)

If i was you i would add the colouring agent in powder form to the concrete as it sets. The colour should last for years. ;)

The paint/sealer form is not as good.

Cheers,

Rodney

oxides are added to the mix and they fade with time. Sometimes they are dusted on as a topping and then steel trowelled in. These can then be stamped and sealed. The other option is the concrete paints. Check out www.concrete.net.au.
