Boys names

Ahah... now I have some understanding for why my wife always wanted a 'traditional' (=short) boys name, and a 'fancy' (=long) girl's name.
hehe... gender bias on the expected yell-quotient for each!

Luke

(Don't start Sim')

I may be a bit biased, but David is a great name.
Luke is good too (my son who is two years old today is named Luke)....:)

Perky,

I agree with you that David is a great name and I am not biased. Just as a matter of interest, why are you biased?

Cheers,

Lotana

I find it so hard to pick boys names. But here are a few I like.
Jake, Dylan, Bailey, Josh, Thomas, Kade, Chris & Jack.

Donna,

Does Beech know you are using his alias?

He could have used names like Manly Beech, Bondi Beech- or, for a girl's name, like GoAnna, Bronte Beech.

Hi GW

It could be worse the could be called a "son of a beech"

my little boy is named BROCK JOHN

My friends think it is after Peter (because I own one of his old race cars) but I think it is an unusual name that I liked ever since I first heard it.

If we had had a girl, my wife wanted MADISON.......

Only a couple of weeks to go........... then I guess I'll have to change my id

I like Madison too, give your wife my vote :)

And if you change your name, we'll be confused as to who you are, so you're stuck being New Dad Soon for ever !

What sort of expectations have these poor kids got on them?

It's a tough life.

I have a friend whose parents where missionaries in the 70s. They went to Taiwan and where constantly being shown how 'western' the people where.

Have you ever seen a small cute asain girl done up in frills and lace? Imagine that, and the proud parents introducing her as 'Conan'...

Another set introduced twins with names that where always on the TV 'Lenin' and 'Stalin'...

I think a staged introduction of a new name would be fine!

Step 1. "New Dad Now"

Step 2. "Not so New Dad"

Step 3. "Dad"

Step 4. "Old Dad"

Our choices for our girl were between Madeleine and Madison. Madeleine won, but it was a very close call. My wife thought "Madison" was "too American".

I also seem to like most girl's name that end in "a" like Alana, Briana, etc.

Oh - sorry - a bit off track. We *were* talking about boy's names, weren't we?

OK, here goes my contribution:
(I apologize in advance for any repetition!)

Riley (great name- my son!)
Jarvis, Jayden, Jacob
Bailey, Ben, Baldwin, Blake
Seamus, Sean (irish spelling for Shaun), Spencer
Damien, Darius
Toby

How about settling (or arm-wrestling) on a name each. Likely as not, the other person won't like your name, in which case they get to change/add ONE letter until they DO like it.

e.g. Samantha becomes Tamantha
Jenny becomes Jenna
Anna becomes Tanna
Brendon becomes Brenton
Trent becomes Brent
Luke becomes Luqe
Johnnie becomes Jahnnie

What about discussing your favourite letter of the alphabet?
Do you have a preference for K names, S names, J names?
Use that letter to alter any other name to suit.
