Brisbane - dinner - Sunday 1st June 6:30pm

Nobody's made any suggestions yet for a venue. I'll give you all another opportunity, if I don't hear anything in a couple of days I'll just pick somewhere. :) Please PM me with suggestions.

Criteria:

1) quiet enough for us to talk without shouting,
2) not too expensive (so nobody feels priced out of attending - max $20 for food),
3) nothing too exotic/specialised (not serving just sushi or curry etc),
4) within 5 mins CBD, and
5) ample cheap/free parking.

What about somewhere at Southbank? Toscani's is usually good, with a wide variety on the menu and not expensive. Parking is cheap, and plentiful.

natmarie, thanks so much for your suggestion.

But I was looking at the Regatta's website - thinking it would be good to stick with somewhere for consistency - and I discovered they're not having live entertainment on Sunday. (I also rang and confirmed.)

So, because it was such a good spot, I've booked us in again at the Street Cafe, under "Somers" ;). For those who came to lunch a few weeks ago, they're putting us on that enclosed verandah area at the back again, between the bar and the Boatshed Restaurant - same place as last time. It's a lovely little "out of the way" corner for those rowdy property investors. :D

Summary:

Street Cafe, Regatta Hotel, booking under name "Somers" for 6:30pm
cnr Sylvan Rd and Coronation Dr, Toowong
Parking on-site, access from Sylvan Rd or Landsborough Tce

Please RSVP here to encourage others, or if you're shy, PM me. Just to make sure we have space for you all, or conversely, that I'm not dining alone! Partners welcome, of course, just warn them there'll be lots of property talk. ;) Though I believe some of us are capable of talking about other things as well. :p

Great! Including partners and those who are too shy to RSVP publicly, we're now up to 14... room for more, though!

Hi Tracey,

Very keen to catchup with all again, but we are heading to the Socceroo's v Iraq match. Have a great night, and hopefully catchup at the next one.

Cheers,
Horizon

URGENT - slight change of venue

Communication breakdown with the Regatta - as of a couple of weeks ago, they're no longer opening the Street Cafe on Sunday nights. :( They originally accepted my reservation, then when the reservation got passed on to a different staff member, they realised the error and contacted me.

The good news is that the Boatshed Restaurant - the other dining venue at the Regatta Hotel - IS open on Sunday nights and we have a reservation for 20 under the name Somers, 6:30pm. (That's how many have RSVP'd via PM and up to lhanara72 +1).

The bad news is that it is quite a bit more pricey; you're looking at about $30 for a main instead of $20. Here's the menu. If the increased price puts you off going, I'm very sorry; we'll try for somewhere a little less expensive next time. If there were more lead time, I'd change venue, but I'm concerned it's too late to do so now. If people don't get this message and try and go to the Street Cafe, it's easy to leave a note pointing them across to the Boatshed, and they won't miss out on catching up with us. But if we were somewhere else altogether, I'd be very stressed that people might be turning up to the Regatta!

Sorry if this is a problem for anybody; let me know if you've previously said you were going, but now don't want to.

Otherwise, I'll look forward to seeing you tomorrow night! :)

Hope they don't hustle you up and turf you out at 10pm like they did to us back in April.

Tracey - you don't own the Regatta do you ??
