Can you Retro Fit Roof Sarking?

Friends have purchased a fairly new house with terracotta roof tiles but no sarking. Hence the question.

Can sarking be retro fitted or is there another solution?

Generally no. You will need to remove the roof tiles to install it.

Better off installing reflective batts on the ceiling if they require insulation.

Sarking has 2 purposes. If it is for insulation then batts would be the go If it is water proofing then you have to lift the tiles. for insulation you could run it vertically between trusses but that would be useless for moister and minimal advantage insulation wise. If it is for moister then you have to run it horizontally with a 200mm overlap

no it cant be retro fitted

This has to be done at the time of construction.
I personally put sarking on all of our roofs, as i have seen way too many tiled roofs leak in good storms.
For the cost its a no brainer.

Agree but this was a purchase after the property was built so there was no choice.

They are mainly looking at reducing the amount of heat that they is coming in. Already have batts but are looking at alternatives.
