Can you spot a shonky duct installation?

There were other symptoms too like condensation under the duct and the subfloor was heated or cooled whenever the ducted system was turned to heat or cool. Other parts of the ducting were bad and had to be redone. :(

Ducting isn't rocket science. After all, it's one of the very few things that are DESIGNED to be held together with duct tape.

As long as the seals are good, no kinks, not touching the ground, clearances ok etc it'll be fine.

Look closely round the connection, the concentric insulation has been removed after the inner wall of the duct has been duct taped to the cooler outlet. Being all silver in colour it is barely perceptible that the reduced and crumbled size of the duct actually reveals sizeable loss of insulation.
