Got my car insurance this week, nothing had changed in the rating, however did the usual of ringing around to see if the price was still competitive, logged onto my current insurance site and entered in the exact same details and it came in $75 less than I was currently paying.
Rang them tonight and explained the situation and they said we offer a 10% discount to new customer, then haggled with her a bit and she dropped it $147. I asked why they had a preference over new customer instead of retaining existing customers and she said that there sales records are around new customers and not retentions
Anyway happy I decided to ring, the 3 minute phone call saved me $147 but in doing so I will continue to haggle with the price ( not the fine points )every time one of these things arrive.
I am sure there are punters out there that must just be lazy and pay them
