Yea, I bet the kit was (by far) the cheapest part, no?
I mean if the kit is say, $30,000, then you need (as an Owner-Builder), around $50,000 more to the full build. This is the point I was making earlier.
A lot of these kit companies make out like the kit is the majority of your costs- it's not. Not even close.
Add builder's margin if you get a builder = $20,000
As an Owner-Builder you have delays, stress, mistakes and lost rent. You have to ask yourself some important questions:
1. Are you technically minded
2. Do you have lots of spare time
3. Can you handle stress well.
4. Do you live AT the work site. i.e. you live in the front house.
5. Will you be doing a similar build again?
Is it worth it? YES if you answered "yes" to most of those^^.
