Council Rate Comparisons

Has anyone ever seen a good website that shows how expensive Local Council rates are in comparison with each other?

I'm looking specifically for VIC, NSW or QLD councils.

It's very hard to get a handle on whether an area's cashflow will be good, everythnig else being equal, when greedy councils take you for everything.

Even houses within one council are different depending on their value so there can't be a list price for each council.

There are thousands of councils in NSW, Qld and VIC each with hundreds of different rate values.

I'd say pick an area you like and ring council if your buy criteria is that critical.

Some RE agents list yearly rates.

Also it's different for each state. I think Qld water and council rates are together? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Looks like it might have some of what you're looking for (at least for Qld). I haven't browsed the data so can't say for sure.

You might have to check the state government approvals for what funding that they provide to councils, the rate pegging and any other base information that is on public record.
