Also depends if you're aiming for a house to rent out or one to do up and onsell.
An interesting market out this way is homes for retirees - they like really nice houses with all the mod cons, yard not too massive, room for the grandkids to visit. They build surprisingly big houses. Can think of 5 towns offhand on my side of Adelaide that are quietly cluttering up with retirees and tree/seachangers, and will eventually pick one to do a new build-and-sell in probably later this year, funding permitting.
No shortage of nice places that fit that demographic in all states, I imagine.
