how to find a good lawyer?

as the title suggests. i and i am sure many others have trouble trying to find a good lawyer/solicitor/conveyencer.
how do you know good from bad?
google searches only do so much and i dont really want to go around trying them all.
so without getting recommendations how do you find a good one?

A recommendation from a friend, family member, colleague or a professional within the same industry that you're currently dealing with can be a good start.

You get a recommendation. I know a few excellent solicitors & conveyancers in Victoria. I recommend them because they do a great job, which makes my life easy. I don't need to worry that they're doing their part properly.

well all states really. my next purchase will be in WA somewhere. but a couple in VIC would be nice.

I generally recomend Phillips & Wilkins Solicitors, 03 9480 1155.

Pam Snell does most of their conveyancing work. She's not a lawyer but has a long history in conveyancing. John is very good with property law for the more complex stuff.
