insect identification

Hello smart SS people!

Just wondering if there are any entomologists out there that might be able to identify this insect - found in the backyard in Perth. We have never seen anything like it!!

Any ideas??

Cheers,
Nadia

Holy cow - what is that thing?!?

Obviously an insect with the 6 legs, but what's that funnel coming out of its head? Did a frog mate with a spoonbill?

There's a site on the internet somewhere (you'll have to google) that you can post pics of spiders, insects etc & they have (I think) Museum of Vic entemologists on there to help answer your questions. You could try that?

Hi, I think this is a Weevil Beetle, you occassionally see them gardening and eat vegetable matter. You could google Weevil for photos.

Cheers

Cool, thanks guys!
Does look like some sort of weevil beetle (Elephant weevil maybe? though I dont think they are found in WA....), but def some sort of weevil. Bizarre looking little critter isnt he!
