Insurance for dual occupancy (home + home office)

I'm considering purchase of a home with an attached home office. The plan is to convert the home office into a granny flat and rent separately. Am sure this has been done before and wanted to check if there will be any issues with insurance.

Any inputs much appreciated.

Thanks,
Amelia

Should not be a problem. I have a similar setup, had insurance with GIO, recently changed to EBM. AAMI refused to insure - they couldn't insure property with attached GF.

As it is an attached GF, you get 2 insurances:

1. Landlord insurance for the whole house and contents of the main house only
2. Landlord insurance for the GF with contents insurance

Cheers,
Sahi
