i remember the Harvey Normal Buyers Edge was a lovely 26% .... but thats nothing compared to cash converters etc. shame on these people

here's an interesting aside;
we pay our card off every month; never pay any interest.
Last month, there was an interest charge, so I ring the Bank (first initial N, last initial A.B) to ask why.
It turns out I didn't pay the full amount on the due date (can't believe I did that; drunk when I did the internet transfer no doubt).
So, I ask the question; "is there any chance you can waive this amount as I've been with you for many years" (which is true). Then I just stopped talking and waited.
The lady on the other end said; "I think that we can do a one-off waive of this charge for you".
Worth remembering.
