IP Analysis Software

Hi all,

I am thinking of investing in this software prior to the end of Jan. 2013 (while it is half price @ $129!):

http://www.propertyinvestmentsoftware.com.au/index.html

I've been trialling the free version and it seems great, but I'm only a newbie to property investing, so I'm not the best judge!

I know there is a PIA software associated / affiliated with this site:

http://www.somersoft.com.au/software.htm

... but it doesn't seem to come in a Mac version. :(

Just wanted to see if others have used the one I'm trialling and/or whether you may know of comparable software (compatible with PC & Mac) that is better?

I know I could just use a spreadsheet, but the above software has many "extras" built-in to it, so seems a good investment!

Cheers,
Crido

PS: I'm in no way affiliated with the software ... I'm just after honest opinions. :)

I'm still relatively new to property investment so take this as you will....

I use this software and it does everything I need it to do, does it well, is easy to use and so far is bug free. I think at $129 it is a good investment.

As to whether there is better software out there, I don't know. I used the trial version of this for a while and liked it so didn't bother with any others.

I tried the propertyinvestmentsoftware. It is not bad for $129 even though I can have most of them covered in Excel.

OK, so I've downloaded the trial PIA software from Somersoft along with the trial Crossover software and been able to run it (albeit in "restricted" mode) on my Mac.

I now realise this must be the software these guys use:

http://www.ipga.com.au/

along with these guys:

http://investorproperty.com.au/

... and I presume many more in the industry probably do the same!

For the money and my needs (a newbie who just wants a good overview of the financials), I will purchase:

http://www.propertyinvestmentsoftware.com.au/index.html

Thanks VERY much for the feedback and for giving me the incentive to try PIA via Crossover for Mac - a good learning experience!

Cheers,
Crido

Good on you. Either software package will be worth its weight in gold in the long run and will certainly help you achieve your goals.

I suppose it depends on the "Excel" ... no?

Can we see yours?

Cheers,
Crido

I'm not challenging what those softwares are offering. I'm simply trying to see if it is possible to do it in Excel. Hence it can be fully customised & transparent.

Here are few I shared on this forum. Not exactly matching what is offered on those software but touching few areas as need basis. Actual data in it are fake.

Yearly Planning.
This covers:
1. Property Expense tied to yearly expenses.
2. Simple feasibility to see if another IP is affordable or not.
3. Simple feasibility to see what happens if one person goes on part time.

Age and financial position calculation.
1. Works out how much you need for retirement based on the income you want for retirement.
2. Shows what you expect to be generated from your assets to create that income

20 Year Plan.
1. It covers the ‘life priorities’ in order of importance– Family, Health, Wealth, Work, Leisure & Extra Curricular.
2. Year by year into 20 year future

Scenario forecasting.
Looks at three different options on existing IP.

Thanks devank - they're excellent - would love to talk through these with you so I understood all the features!

LOVE the 20 Year Plan!!! I've started to tweek it for my family! :D

Thanks again!

I've just recently downloaded the trial version of the Property Investment Calculator and I noticed that in the 10 year forecast it didn't calculate the interest on equity funds used at all. Wonder if this is a bug or limited functionality in the trial version?
