I've been wondering about these mining towns lately. We some of these jobs being put on hold I wonder how much the market is softening. These towns will undoubtedly come back in the long term.

That they will and if you purchased early for say $100k (they were selling for much much less than that at the end of the last round), you should be payed off.

Those that purchased recently for $300-$400-$500k may be in a different boat though with vacancies on the cards.
