I don't like the idea of hiring another accountant though, i'll have to look into the possibility of compiling my own NZ tax return to save on costs.

We've got a few properties so went through an accountant for the first return. Also hoping to pick up some guidance from them along the way. Having gone through the process I might have a go at it myself next year but this year I'm learning and the fees were just one more thing that I could tax deduct.
