Seems that the people looking at these changes are actually thinking about BOTH sides of the fence for once, instead of just the tennant's side. This is a good thing IMO.
Some of the proposed changes mentioned in the article:
- increase of eviction notice from 60 days to 90 days
- landlords given ability to control nunmber of tennants in their property
- vetting rights given to landlords for shared households
- landlords able to take tennants in arrears to tribunal more quickly
- watering down of tribunal's ability to protect tennants from eviction
On the whole it seems like they have approached this with a balanced view on the residential tennancy market i think.
