Picture of Yourself

the embedded ones are either
Code:
 [img]url of image[/img]
for an external image
marriage.gif
(We're not worthy, we're not worthy)
or
Code:
[attach]attachmnt id number[/attach]
for an image uploaded as an attachment to the postmarriage.gif(We're still not worthy, we're still not worthy)

The ones that are thumbnails only are where the poster hasnt rummaged thru the help screens to find how to embed.

Why the images are blank, could be
server error
security settings on your pc,
random acts of gremlinry

none of which are easy to diagnose, especially at a distance

Often in Internet Explorer if the advanced setting "Empty Temporary Internet Files On Exit" is not enabled there comes a point where web handling begins to break down. A good first choice to look is
Tools
Internet options
Delete files
[X] delete all offline content
ok
ok

Image "marriage.gif"
Firefox is immune, if you are using firefox there is some other issue

In this thread http://www.somersoft.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26987 some of the pictures are imbedded which I can see fine, but a lot have a little box at the bottom which 'attached thumbnails', but I cannot see any attached thumbnails.

Another good reason why people should upload their images to the gallery and display them that way. It also doesn't waste your attachment quota......you do have a size limit, it will eventually be used up.

Firefox is common to the missing images,
The link structure of the attachment tags may be similar enough to embedded advertising that FireFox blocks the files.
Code:
http://www.**edited**.com.au/ads/lbframe.htm
?ad=YTo5OntzOjc6IkFEX05BTUUiO3M6ODoiaG9tZ
is a blocked ad
Code:
http://www.somersoft.com/forums/attachment.php
?attachmentid=1514&thumb=1&d=1154124959
is an attached thumbnail

one thing to try is to disable ad/spam/flash blocking in FireFox, to see if images then are available, remember to enable it again, blocking is one of the very good reasons for using firefox.
If that solves the problem you can add a button to the toolbar to toggle ad blocking when you want to see embedded images, or add somersoft.com/forums/ to the list of unblocked sites
Exact sequence to do the above, don't know, I use IE, behind a hardware firewall, blocking enabled at the firewall.

I fixed my problem. It wasn't Firefox, it was my Ad blocker in Zone Alarm. I just reduced it from high to medium and it worked. I just need to remember to put it back when I'm finished.

Glad it wasnt firefox, too good a browser to grow bugs at this late stage of development
Firefox own ad blocker is better than just about any, you might not need to use the one in zone alarm, if you can set it up, you might not even notice anything blocked its so good at differentiating genuine web content from junk.
