Pool Compliance

Just received official notice that the NSW state government has differed for another 12 months the requirement for a pool compliance certificate for the purpose of selling or renting a property. Put back too 29/4/16.

Yup. Too many pools, not enough inspectors (apparently). Like they've only had 2yrs notice.

NSW State Liberals passed over the responsibility of inspections of all registered pools to local councils who have neither the man power nor money to undertake them.

No big surprise.

Enforcement of pool standards has always been a council responsibility - can't blame either side of politics for that. The state government cannot enter your property to inspect building compliance - never has and never will.

So is the GST - federal law, collected by business and paid to the states - beat that.

GST revenue is collected by the Commonwealth, and then distributed to the State and Territory governments.

The pool compliance act is state based by controlled by local government at the full cost to local rate payers.
