Dylan33 22nd Feb, 2013 #1 I'm planning on painting my old tin roof. I've bought Solarguard paint in a charcoal colour. There is some rust but only surface stuff. I will rub the rust areas back but was wondering what you would recommend for a primer? ( if any?).

Propertunity 22nd Feb, 2013 #2 Hi Dylan, I think you'll find Solarguard is self-priming so primer not required. http://www.wattyl.com.au/DIY/Pages/Solagard.aspx I would though, use a rust converter on the surface rust first, just to be on the safe side.
