Property Accountant

Nick

My friend went to see Nick to sort out some financial issues regarding IP. She was very happy with him. I am planning to get in touch with him for my tax return this year.

just the info i need!

thanks everyone! been looking for an accountant myself for some advice in establishing a proper investment structure... am new to the forum and have been learning a lot from your posts :D

Hi All,

I know Strategic Wealth and House of Wealth are both held in high regard on SS. I'm also looking for an accountant but my financial situation in fairly basic by Somersoft standards: 1 IP, average dual income (myself and my wife), no trusts etc. I'm not sure that we would get enough benefit from the big guns to warrant their fees. I know a lot of people would say that "you can afford NOT to have a great accountant". I do understand that you get what you pay for, but I'm just not sure that paying a premium for those kind of specialists is the best thing for us to do at least at this early stage.

I'd be interested to know what you all think about this and if you have any recommendations for other accountants in Sydney.

Please note, I do intend on purchasing more property, so no, my financial situation (hopefully) won't always be as straight forward as this. But for the time being, I feel like I would probably be spending more money than is really necessary.

Cheers,

Jaz

My primary response to this type of concern has been and will always be........ you can seek the services of a tax agent, who will provide great advice, often though looking at your outcomes with hindsight. A structuring accountant looks fwd, and will prevent "mistakes".

While you can quantify the "savings" you can make from using XYZ tax agents, you cant quantify the potential cost of insufficient advice or non existent future planning.

What's the approximate going-rate for the accountants you guys use anyway? (Just ballpark figures I guess in case it's poor form to ask for exact amounts)

My accountant is $90-odd for a "basic" Tax Return but then if you have IP's he generally adds a small charge per property...I have colleagues whose "basic" tax return is over $150 and they too have "small charge per property" so I figured the fees I was paying was pretty competitive.

My accountant also invests himself so that gives me more confidence...

I've just switched accountants to M. Khan at Keshab accounting in Parramatta. I'm in Tassie not Sydney, but heard good things about them and just had our first meeting a couple of weeks ago. Impressions so far are good.

House of Wealth

How does Michael Armstrong (Director) compare to James Gatherum-Goss (Founder)?

As good as each other?
