Someone is Parking in My Car Space

Have you checked the Body Corp and relevent by-laws allow for separate leasing of the unit and car spaces?

Have read that this is sometimes specifically denied in some strata units such as in the CBD etc.

Our rules, from memory, state that spaces can only be rented to people who live in the building. It's a rule that cannot be enforced, but, as implied above, renting a space to an outsider lessens the building security in that you would have to give your car space tenant a security tab which - in our building anyway - gives them free access to the residential common parts, post room and swimming pool.

Yes. What do you do. Personally i would support every space being fitted with lock devices but carpark sounds good. What happens if people dont pay the $88 fine?

First World Problems, also known as “White Whine,” are frustrations and complaints that are only experienced by privileged individuals in wealthy countries.

Problems from living in a wealthy, industrialized nation that third worlders would probably roll their eyes at.

Folding bollards are a real nuisance IMO, both to the space owner, and to the cleaners etc. I presume CarePark are able to recover the $88 (probably plus costs) through legal channels, since there is a clear notice at the car park entrance making it clear that this will be levied on any car not parked in its allotted space.

Yep - used to see them quite a bit on Failblog, but they've dried up lately. Also another couple of Cheezburger sites that have since closed/renamed/gone stupid.

You did a good job with that one - I tried to Kudos you, but I have to spread it around!

Thanks Rob. I kinda picked up you knew but posted the definition for others who may not be aware of their inane whining.

Have an IP with a car space. We are looking at leasing the carspace separately. It is in a security parking area as you need a buzzer to enter and leave the car park.

The other day when visiting the complex there was someone else's car parked in our designated carspace.

Just wondering whether there is anything we can do to stop unwanted parkers. Any suggestions?

It's amazing how often tyres get tech screws and side-wall punctures in them.

Tech screws are the best because you can screw them in just so far that they don't let the tyres down straight away but some time later and away from you parking spot.

Does you no good to have a car in your spot with 4 flat tyres.:D

Cheers

It does however make your point very strongly! :D

Like magic, SMH has this article and it appears you can wheel clamp and fine illegal parkers should there be a by-law.

About to ask my strata manager.

Peter

As per article.

As leading strata lawyer Beverley Hoskinson-Green explains in a comprehensive article on the Flat Chat Forum, this doesn’t help with drivers who don’t live in the building.

and who in turn have not given permission for their vehicle to be towed or clamped

It is against the wheel clamping act

http://www.legislation.nsw.gov.au/sessionalview/sessional/act/1998-62.pdf

With a penalty of 20 penalty units which is apparently $2200

Just reading through the act it also says that you must immediately release said vehicle.

651C Unlawful detention of vehicles
(1) A person who takes possession of a vehicle that has been
left on premises must not:
(a) fail to release the vehicle on demand to any person
having a lawful right to the possession or control
of the vehicle. or

Oops, its our favorite trick to park in the offenders and then make them wait an appropriately long period of time before we go down to move our vehicles.

Cheers

Didn't read it in full.

I did like their fake wheel clamp option. That is, wheel clamp a friends car for a few days to scare off those scamming you.
