Sound proofing fence

Hi

Backing on to a train line, and near the station and warning bells, I am investigating putting up a fence or screen in the backyard inside the boundary fence.

I was thinking at least 3 metres high and wondered if any one had any advice
on the best materials or suggestions please

Besser brick will block the most sound, fully filled,

then brick,

then double timber (palings both sides) and use thick roof insulation in between ...

After that plant a heavy hedge to buffer the sound..

Double glaze the facing windows of your house

Thanks Georod, they are great ideas, i had forgotten about Besser brick, is it used much? also insulation, I didn't know it could be used externally, i suppose it would have to be well covered for rain etc.

Boral also make an accoustic ply wood that is used in some sound barrier fences commercially. couldnt get to it on borals site so here is someone else
