Suburb Stigma

Gentrification certainly improves the "stigma" of an area. And it even occurs in little 'ol Cairns. Bungalow used to be a very derro suburb. Now it's full of yuppy units, costing a motza. Machans Beach (known as the poorest of all Cairns Northern Beaches), is becoming gentrified. People bought in at low prices, renovated and now sales and rents have gone through the roof. There are still many bargain priced places to buy, if one is prepared to turf out the tenants, and renovate the old weatherboard 2-bed cottages.
