Tenant Request Replacing of Ridge Capping

I'm just wondering if anyone could clarify as to why the insurer would speak to the tenant in the first place? I mean, they are not a party to the contract between the insurer and insured.
They can talk to anybody they want to, provided they don't breach Privacy laws. They usually wouldn't go seeking out other parties, but if they're a bit sus about your claim, they would definitely ask the tenant - as the occupant - whether there'd been any problem with leaking. They can also talk to neighbours, Council, BSA, and anybody else that they think is relevant.
