Thankyou Craig Thomson

-
I'll give up the Liberal slanging when the punters on here give up the Labor slanging.

The problem with this Craig Thompson issue is he is a Labor MP, so Labor are copping it.

But don't worry; it'll be the Libs turn next month/year, so then you'll get a turn. :D

You're so profound Lizzie. Just like Tony. :D

I can do no more to support my point, its evidence and truth is everywhere. I deal in facts, not opinion.

Nah - just tired of the name calling rantings of a rusted on who is yet to provide any facts regarding either the topic of this thead (which is CT, in case you've forgotten) and/or any evidence that Labor does "not" have a large swing of core Labor voters going against them.

Yawn .....

Almost every post i have made in this thread have included facts.

You made the assertion, its up to you to provide facts and proof (beside News Ltd polls) that Labor has their electorate going against them, not me. But, it will be decided in the next election, till then...all opinion...

Here's an op-ed article by George Williams (Professor at Law at University of NSW) about CT.

However, it is unlikely that he will be disqualified. The damaging public debate will no doubt work to the political advantage of the opposition, but the law is unlikely to produce the outcome they desire.

A person does not commit fraud merely by placing unauthorised private expenses on a work credit card. It also needs to be shown beyond reasonable doubt that they obtained a financial advantage by engaging in deception and dishonest behaviour.

A July 12 2007 Australian editorial article about political polls Editorial: History a better guide than bias

"Bias, nonetheless, is in the eye of the beholder and some people will always see conspiracy when the facts don't suit their view of the world. This is the affliction that has gripped, to a large measure, Australia's online news commentariat that has found passing endless comment on other people's work preferable to breaking real stories and adding to society's pool of knowledge."

Great Article..as was Obsessions on the topic of news bias.

Also a great article, Buzz

"Thomson may have breached the rules of his union in a way that raises questions about his character and judgment, but it is a big jump to prove he has committed a fraud. A prosecution would depend upon whether a forensic examination of the case by the NSW fraud squad discerns any additional evidence, or whether the material gives rise to a different charge."

Gillard and Thomson won't be rid of the stench...not at least until after the next election.

It also needs to be shown beyond reasonable doubt that they obtained a financial advantage by engaging in deception and dishonest behaviour.

Would this not apply to his use of $30,000 to run his election campaign for a position in Australian Government???

I think Professor Williams is being mischievously and conveniently (for the left) disingenuous.

It is true that a person does not commit fraud merely by placing unauthorised private expenses on a work credit card.

However the follow on process that most corporations use i.e. submitting your receipts and signing an expense form claiming that they are legitimate work related expenses is where fraud comes into play.

I have supplied over and over again, sources, youtube clips, articles, references, whatever..to back up my claims.

A lot better than making huge claims and then when proven wrong, forgetting about that one and moving on to the next one, then the next one such as Josko and Stefan have both done today and have appeared many times in this thread by others.

A couple of youtube clips - lots of name calling - lots of extreme opinion off topic - no facts seen yet ...

Yawn .....

You think he is? Why would he do that?

Fraud? Seriously? For misusing a corporate credit card and not reporting it? Seriously? Time to calm down again guys and check the facts.

Here's a fact: If Mary Jo Fisher is found guilty this week of the offences she was charged with and the penalty for those offences are more than one year in jail She's out on her ear. Out of parliament.

Not Thomson. Sheeesh!

In 1985, Keating proposed the introduction of a Goods and Services Tax or "GST" (known elsewhere as a value-added tax), which was debated by the party before being dropped by Hawke.

After Keating, some of the reforms of Fightback were implemented under the centre-right coalition government of John Howard, such as the GST.

Evand, Here is one point that is not fact, PK was first to think of the GST, just shows how biased your are.

And here's one for the historical revisionists:

Following the Labor Party's victory in the March 1983 election, Keating was appointed treasurer, a post he held until 1991. Keating succeeded John Howard as treasurer and was able to use the size of the budget deficit that had been left by the outgoing government to attack the former treasurer, and question the economic credibility of the Liberal-National coalition.

Speaking of history revisionists:

You might like to have a look at this, specifically the chronology section:

http://www.aph.gov.au/library/pubs/chron/1998-99/99chr01.htm#CONS

just because he was the first person you listened to, doesnt make it his original idea. Besides, this is an indictment on Keating, he knew it was necessary but was more concerned with political opportunism than doing what he knew was the best direction given the shift in our economy from a manufacturing base to a large services sector.

I also seem to recall he claimed a large part of the funds were paid back...and the Union official he claimed to have made that payment has publically denied he had anything to do with it.

Labor Senator David Feeney was forced to evacuate his office today after suspicious white powder was discovered at his office.

The senator has backed the Health Services Union's decision to refer fraud allegations against federal Labor MP Craig Thomson to police.

Reading up on Professor George Williams, he is a bit of a Leftie pin up boy - the go to guy for human rights, republicanism, federalism, racial discrimination, national industrial relations systems....but nothing in his bio suggests he should be asked for an opinion about human responsibilities.

I have supplied over and over again, sources, youtube clips, articles, references, whatever..to back up my claims.

Yet to see any facts yet in this thread supplied by Evand... although did notice he went real quite earlier when proven wrong about the timing of posts.

Hi PB, how you going?

Evan and PB....i feel you are missing the point.

Doing well thanks, could be better living near the beach though :)

I will once again say I don't like Howard, Julia, Rudd or Wong. All liars and or incompetent.
I don't like hillbillie Bob who could do with a few more brain cells, nor Bob Brown and his green hypocrite shills.

I'm a political orphan, as many others seem to be, who just cannot accept BS from whichever party it comes from. A none of them are any different.
Vision and ideals I will always respect.
Even Latham had more ideals and vision if you read his book, but somehow the ALP turned him into something else.

Misuse the perk, get found out, try to cover it up, blame someone else for the misuse, party rallies around in full support and denial.

But of course; they are innocent until proven guilty, right?

Where is the misuse?
If what happened was the norm or common is it misuse?
This is about private union funds not public money.
And YES! This is not yet the fascist/nazi police state you may want it to be.

In fact civilization would be a whole lot better without leftie intellectuals
What we do need is history knowledge, cultural knowledge, and culture.
None of which you seem to have.
It was the lefties who overthrew kings and queens and forced republics and created democracy as we know it.
If it was'nt for them you would be a slave of the Queen and the idiot princes.

Why is it leftie intellectuals don't start or run enterprises, but rather just sit around waiting for the next handout from the toil of others?
Rupert Murdoch started a socialist newspaper when he was at uni... the leftie commie!
Why is it intellectuals value sitting around on their collective asses, rather than getting out and volunteering to clean someone else's?
It is pretty much know that Australia's rich are tightest scrooges in comparison to other countries.
When disaster strikes this forum gets threads like "we pay our taxes let the govm send help".
It's the lower classes that help out the most, not the snoobs.

And the Left are rich with morals. In fact they have so many, they choose a different set every week.
Ignorance is bliss.

Besides, this is an indictment on Keating, he knew it was necessary but was more concerned with political opportunism than doing what he knew was the best direction given the shift in our economy from a manufacturing base to a large services sector.
The people would not have accepted it, so he did'nt go to an election with a lie as did Howard, Rudd/Julia.
He knew it would eventually happen in time as most other oecd nations have it.
Given his record he did more for Australia than anyone else in that position last 40yrs.

With pollies we are left with the lousy choice of "least worst". How any fair and reasonable person can be enamoured with either party has me stumped.
Gawd yeah!
