The MELB cup

Hi all,

OK, I couldn't resist, as it is the only horse race I "invest" in.

My "tip", based on a system I have followed for over 30 years, and has a success rate of about 80%, is that the winner will come from one of the following;

Pentastic
County Tyrone
Distinctly Secret
Grey Song
Frightening

The system didn't work last year so it is due.

I wont back all 5 nags, I'll just choose 1, which is why I only back the cup winner every 3-4 years.

Anyone else got a sure fire/can't lose system?? Post your tips here.

bye

Hi Bill - always back the horse called 'self interest' - it's the only one that's trying.

That always cures any nagging doubts I have!

Peter

I've only bet on one horse race in my entire life.

I worked out a foolproof method of backing the winner
(not making a profit, just backing the winner)

It was a 5 horse race, and yes, I backed every horse !

Of course I got the winner.

Looks like your system missed out for the second year in a row Bill :D

Makybe Diva is the 2003 Melbourne Cup Winner.

Jamie :p

Hi all,

Oh well, there is alwats next year:(

It's OK though, the system has not missed more than 2 years in a row since I started to follow it 30 years ago.

bye

There's been very many predictions in this forum.

Bill's has been one of the few with a measurable result- even if it was not thre result he predicted.

I suspect many of the other predictions in the forum will end up with a similar result.

At least, that's my prediction.

The name Makybe Diva came from the first two letters of people who worked for the horse's owner.

But before that, he had another Diva horse- when he had Lana, Diana, Gordon, Dianne and Val working for him.

G'day Geoffw,

If it hasn't been said before - "You have WAY too much time on your hands!"

But I like your thought - it would have been a great photoshoot after the race, I'm sure ;)

Regards,

Sorry Puppeteer.

I abuse some of my time by attempting to make at least some people smile.

Every now and then, it works. :)
