Who uses a dishwasher

We holiday in serviced appartments that usually have a dishwasher. I have never used one (embarrassing as I don't know how). At home the kids are supposed to wash & dry the dishes so I have no need.

thanks for opinion Bawley. You remind me of another issue. It might be ok to leave dirty dishes in a dishwasher for a few days in cold Canberra, but I believe doing the same in the sub tropics is an open invitation for cockroach infestation.

Cockroaches and smelly pong - as an ex Sydneysider you reminded me of the differences between living in a humid or dry climate - the bathtowels remained wet and became pongy in humid Sydney weather and fruit had to be monitored carefully and perhaps refrigerated. Yes, and if one neglected to put the dishwasher on for a couple of days it smelt like a cesspit.

Canberra's dry air suits me fine Australia's best kept secret.......shh don't tell anybody.

We don't have cockroaches in Canberra (or very few).

The climate is too cold for them.
