Anyone have a personal chef?

This sounds like a good plan to me - but obviously you don't need a qualified chef to shop & prepare this type of food. A cook could do it; actually, almost anyone who can cook & who has some knowledge of nutrition could do it (Like a personal trainer who has taken time off to have kids).
At $45k split between 4 of you i think it's a good deal. I ate this way some years ago while bodybuilding and I know how extremely well prepared you need to be. I'd be tempted to pay someone rather than lose my Sundays preparing food for the week.

I really think this is a great business idea for someone to do on a commercial basis & advertise through the local gym for a muscle / high protein version of Lite 'n'Easy. The existing L & E is not suitable. It's actually a very % of carbs -'cos protein is expensive.

Or maybe this could be a business for you and your friends?

im starting to think this as well, the bodybuilders Light and Easy equivalent,

or the restaurant idea was a good one!

I'd certainly be interested if there was a L&E type program for these types of foods

And you'd expect it to work as good as actually buying fresh fruit & veges ?

Cooking sucks... Cleaning too Don't even get me started on earning a living....

Unfortunately/fortunately for these guys, taste/variety etc.etc. is not the highest priority, most people see it as a sacrifice, which comes with the territory

I love chicken, I could eat it everyday, but after a while, my meals become a routine and can be seen as a sacrifice, where I dont even notiec what they taste like it when im in the zone

I'm talking about the nutrition of pre prepared & oftyen frozen foods compared to useing FRESH FOOD

Surely FRESH FOOD would be at least a tad more effective in deliveing nutrients etc like the original poster is concnered with ??

I know it's trendy to have everything more complicated than it needs to be bus sound like it's better and easiers these days..... but ... ummm ..... .yeah

If the meals are prepared according to your needs/dietary requirements, I don't see the problem with fresh vs frozen.

I can sit down and eat a big can of tuna or a chicken breast and green vegies each and every meal but the mrs won't have a bar of it haha. I guess it's a lifestyle choice that some people just don't understand

As in a real one? not a wife/husband/parent.

and in australia,

Was approached today by a few friends (3 to be exact) all 3 are amateur bodybuilders and they've got extreme diets, my diet is no where near as extreme but its pretty full on,

their line of thinking is, pay a chef $45k odd per year, or even less if its not a full time job, 4 of us, chef cooks meals at one house (possibly rotating) 3 meals per day, 2 of them will probably be in lunch box form, other people pick them up once a day

Im surprised people dont do this more often

This may well be the most superficial, self-indulgent and vacuous first-world problem I have ever seen in search of a solution.

So how much time would an extreme meal take to cook?

If it's plain steamer cooking, or packing of a lunchbox, wouldn't it take a fraction of the time it takes to organise (consult with and co ordinate), pick up and pay for?

Token, pull your head in, somebody obviously is making a living out of it.

Just wondering if the chef gets 4 weeks annual leave, RDOs, sick leave, travel allowance, super etc

thanks datto, next he'll be saying we should shoot all chefs and restaurant owners because paying someone to cook food should be illegal!

as for actual preparation, you dont need to weigh food and measure things once you get the hang of things,

providing variety is one of the things that makes it hard as well, I mean you could have for eg 300g chicken + grilled/steamed 4 times per day, which would be fairly easy but it would probably drive anyone insane,

also its pretty damn hard to make a living through these means, so most people would have full time jobs, imagine trying to eat 4 meals per day on top of 1-2 hour training every day

This lifestyle is full on.

Maybe some kind of drive thru like maccas would help.

"Yeah I'll have a double protein shake, 2kg rare steak and um you got any roids or HGH? Something with a low angrenic effect, my ***** tits are starting to grow again" LOL

I'd be suprised if any pro BB's at all even have a personal chef.
Must have plenty of surplus cashflow and no time to spend it to even be considering this idea.

Why do body builders have a surplus of cashflow? Here I am thinking of body builders as having some sort of compulsive obsessive disorder that would make them bad to employ and not likely to have much money? I know I will upset some, but I feel sorry for them. Such a waste of time.

See ya's.

Everyone has their passion. For some it is bodybuilding, others it is travel, others scrap booking. You might think its a waste of time but others would think your hobbies are the same. Thank goodness we are all different and enjoy different things. I don't feel sorry for anyone who enjoys what they do.

my hubby does weight lifting.. i dont think he has an excess of cashflow (or at least not that he's sharing with me!! ;) ) but he is a bit obsessive compulsive.

He has 5 or 6 different brands of protein powder that he cycles between.

His "mentor" has just told him that he should take 2 days rest from lifting weights a week.... so now he is obsessively taking off the 2 days rest, and is convinced that not having rested was the reason he had various other health problems.

I'm more than happy for him to do it........ but it is definitely a compulsion!!

why???
to me its efficient allocation of resources if done correctly. Specialisation in skill set and all that.

For myself i have ownship in a couple of hawker style asian restaurants, all the shareholders get an 'allowance' for self consumption that is proportional to the shareholding.

Provides a great way for take away dishes that are then stored at home. Cost per dish is around $3-$4, try doing that on safeway retail prices.

Of course we factor this 'inefficiency' into the underlying business so that the business stands on its own two feet.

I dont think different brands of protein are going to make a difference unless its for taste or unless its a different kind of protein, eg wpc, wpi, night, pre workout, post work out, mass gaining etc

although he may be obsessive, taking days off is very important in training, if he is training say 1 month in row without a break, he may be doing more harm then good, I know how he feels though, he have gotten to a stage where if he takes a day off he feels lazy, guilty, fat and week!

I have no idea about the protein. I imagine its primarily to have things which taste different. I dont know how many he drinks a day, but it must be 5 or 6. Having the same thing all the time would be a challenge.

I dont think hes really ever done training every day....... but the difference now is that he's having very specific rest days. and he does feel lazy and weak if he takes a break... never fat though. He has the unfortunate build for a body builder of being slim and unable to really bulk up. Although he said yesterday that for the first time in his life (he's over 50), he doesnt feel skinny. (for him thats positive!)

when i was getting into it before i got too busy and lazy, hopefully in a month or so after i sort some house stuff out i can get back into it
i done mon, wed, fri rested inbetween
you cant build muscle if it cant rest

food sleep and rest are more important than how much you train unless you stop training of course

i dont know much about protein but if hes slim he should be on the mass bulk one
as it has added extras carbs etc
i eat enough carbs as is and more so i stick with ON's 100% whey protein
well thats what my dude tells me anyway
