Governments are hypocrites. If they were well and truly interested in peoples welfare there would be a lot of banned stuff and so they should be.
Why are cigarettes still being sold over the counter and laced with poisiounus chemicals just so they burn longer. You really are concerned with peoples health? If yes take them off the shelf and ban the sale of cigarettes. Why don't they do this, too much money would be lost from sales tax and more people living longer so they would have to fork out more pensions.
Let's face it, the government wants you to drop dead immediately after you retire as you only cost them money after that. So to them cancer is a friend and doing them a favor.
Look the same could be said about alcohol.....
The governments are only interested in revenue and what brings in the money is here to stay no matter how bad or how many it kills per year.
If they legalized drugs so many crimals would be out of a job and not bringing ridiculous amounts of money for doing nothing. I would also imagine there would be less users with time. All of a sudden it is legal it is not the bad thing to do, so teens would lose the excitement of trying to source it.
Look if smokers were allowed to grow their own plants and smoke it there would be a 99% reduction in deaths from smoking. But the gov gets not cash so let's make this illegal.
Look another example steroids. If this stuff was legalized at least people who use it would have access to clean and sterile products. If someone wants to use it they will, just because it is illegal never stopped anyone. So by legalizing steroids users would be better off than from having to buy from Frank who makes the stuff in his bathtub under filthy conditions. Steroids are not illegal in all countries and these countries have no issues with people dropping dead from god quality clean products. Media likes to play up how dangerous they are and kills people and when in fact this is not true. All it takes is a little research and common sense.
If someone wants to take drugs and overdose it is their choice their life. You can't stop a person from running out under a train or jumping off a bridge.
If drugs were legalized users would at least have access to clean stuff and not buy dodgy stuff from god knows who which in turn might save people from dying from bad made stuff.
It would be cheaper and less crimes committed (thefts robberies) to fuel the addiction.
Having said all that I understand there are flip sides to each of these cases.
But as a parent ask yourself this
Would you rather your child buy stuff from a pharmacy or from some guy called Joe who makes his money in the underworld?
I know the answer is neither, but unfortunately if they want to do something they will and you can't be there 100% of the time to stop it.
Sorry for the rant got a bit carried away.
