Body Corp Insurance

Hi all,

Bit of a pickle that I need some help with. We own a 2 bed appartment in a 5 story place-obviously pay body corp. Now the problem, it has just been discoverd that a poor seal in the shower has caused leaking that has damaged the bathroom and ceiling directly underneath. Building is over 10 years old.

I know insurance policies can be tricky but shouldnt this be covered. My understanding is they cover resultant damage as a result of inferior or poor workmanship?

I think the key is to find out where and how the water damage was caused.

Most strata insurance will cover burst or damaged pipes in the walls of the shower unit, but not from leaks in the base of the shower unit.

I'd be onto your insurance asap to get their opinion.
