Carbon tax

Carbon credits for India coal power plant

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Environmentalists criticized the United Nations on Tuesday after it ruled that a large Indian coal-fired power project is eligible to earn carbon credits worth $165 million at current prices.

see article here

So the Labor government will charge our coal power stations for their emissions, yet the Indian's will receive Carbon credit's for their coal fired power stations & be able to sell these carbon credits to us.

I'm just sitting here shacking my head over this Carbon Dioxide Tax. I can't wait until Liberal get back in and reverse all this mess. The world must be sitting back & laughing at our politicians.

I guess the people of India are glad that Bob Brown & Christine Milne live in Australia so they can continue to build their coal fired power stations & not only have cheap power but make extra money from selling their carbon credits to us idiots.

p.s. & how much will the worlds temperature change from Labor's Carbon Tax?

I hope I have summarised adequately what he said but I did enjoy his clear presentation.

I was half listening to some of the broadcast over lunch. Found him difficult to stay with. Thought he could have been more focused and lucid. I found the questions from the journos interesting in their superficiality and suspicion of why another country's president (and economist) would make a trip to Australia to talk about climate change. Suppose it is ok with them though when a greenleftie movie or rock star talks up the world is going to explode scenario.

I share the President's concerns about the climate change movement, as does Australia's Kevin Andrews, Member for Menzies, who has written the best piece on The Greens underlying Marxist agenda.

You couldn't make it up if you tried.

Slightly off topic but did you read about the other deal they did yesterday with Malaysia, we pay to send 800 asylum seekers to Malaysia and we pay to house them, medical, etc, for ever, and we also pay to have another 4000 asylum seekers shipped to Australia. In fact we pay for everything. I often wonder if Rudd, Gillard & co think more about foreigners than the idiots that voted them in. Did you see Rudd in Somalia, he got our cheque book out and gave then another $20M odd on top of the $60M we have already given and we are going around turning lights out to save money. WTF.

You have socialists in power, what do you expect.

But really I don't care anymore. People like evand and the other socialists can have their way for now.
But like the socialists in Greece, Portugal, etc that enjoyed their government spending while it lasted, who are the people who are ultimately impacted the most when governments have to actually start paying the money back. Is it the people like us (more self sufficient, harder working), or the people who have sponged off the socialist government spending for years.

So for now I'll let evand and others have their short sighted views and enjoy the day, with the happy knowledge that those who voted Labor and Greens in are the type of people that will be most affected down the track.:D

It's kind of sweet karma. I already REALLY enjoy the stories of people struggling with higher cost of living. Ruddy after all did promise that Labor would bring down costs. And we have Grocery watch, Fuel watch, etc.

And but the way evand, Labor didn't save Australia from the GFC. A strong China was the overwhelming factor for Australia.

Mate, you need a lie down. You get a bit over excited.

Czech President, Vaclav Klaus on climate change today:

http://www.theaustralian.com.au/nat...acy-vaclav-klaus/story-fn59niix-1226098608900

Did you folks listen to what Vaclav Klaus said at his talk to the Press Club? It was broadcasted at ABC 24.

Some points raised by the president are:

He noted the controversy of changing and diverse scientific debates on climate change.

Vaclav has internal 'alarming bells' ringing at simalarities of leftist proponents between 'climate alarmists' and 'communists', who are basically using climate change as a fad tool for driving political and socio agendas......

Hi Francesco,

Some of you might be interested to know Vaclav Klaus has written a book called, "Blue Planet in Green Shackles." The title says it all.

This book is a very interesting read.

His book quotes various papers and essays written by various persons of education on the subject of the challenge of Environmentalism which is sweeping the Western World, or I would say- blinding the Western World.

I have read comments on blogs and this forum, about how we should put our financial gain and capitalistic atitudes aside to "save the planet." If anyone thought to think carefully about what is happening, the elite capitalists are the the ones pushing this tax and ETS.

Janet Biehl - (Institute of Social Ecology) (Author : Ecofascism: Lessons from the German Experience (1996) The Politics of Social Ecology: Libertarian Municipalism (1997) published an essay called:

The Modernisation of Facism in The German Ultra Right. (1995)

While you might think this is going too far, here is this paragraph according to her:

.."the contemporary new right in Germany is searching for an "ecological" alternative to modern society, openly declaring that "the ecological crisis" is resolvable only through "authoritarian" means, that the establishment of an elitist salvation Governement is necessary, and a bit of "ecodictatorship" is needed to handle our problems today."
Hmmm... doesn't this sound EXACTLY like what we are experiencing under The Labor/Greens alliance?

Klaus also gives some interesting thought on technological progress and the use of resources and their exhaustability.

He might have been hard to understand on the radio, but his book is as straightforward as day and night.:)

Here is a quote to think about:

"We are being asked to buy an insurance policy against a risk that is very small, if at all, and pay a very heavy premium." S.Fred Singer (2000).

Regards, JO

bluestorm, you should care and you should have your say...it's what democracy is all about.:)

Another fine piece of negotiation from the Labor government

Do they also get the free digital set top box, $900 cash for a plasma & incorrectly installed insulation for their new home in Malaysia?

I am seeing this Labor/Green govt make decisions that are 'marginally' better than earlier decisions by their standard. By their standard, it is a triumph of incremental wisdom in govt policies.

Previously, the Howard regime has the Pacific solution. Boat refugee scam stopped. After cries of potential indefinite detention (even though many detainees were eventually screened and accepted by Australia) and complacent boredom with a steady-as-it-goes Howard govt, we received a post-election open door onland processing system. Blind Freddy could have prophesied that the economics for the pull of boat refugees will be unavoidable. After xxxxxing the federal bureacracy resources to process the flow of refugees, and shelling out $$$ (8-9 figures) to build infrastructure for refugees on Christmas Island and around Australia. The Malaysian solution now seen against this background can only be a quantum improvement if it stops the boats. Some refugee advocates are now having second thought that the Howard so-called Pacific solution was more humane as the processing was controllable and by Australians instead of by Malaysians and billed by them. Any charge by Malaysia for looking after the health and education of the exchanged 800 boat refugees should at least be about 33% the expenses that would have been met if looked after in Australia (on exchange rate basis alone). This does not include savings on infrastructure and deterrence on further boat arrivals.

The Carbon Tax creates seeds of such incompetency again. You cannot be madder or try harder to xxxxx Australia better than with these ingredients:

1. make it toxic and odious to create the wealth of this nation from its mining sector
2. make life difficult for Australians to live normally even though it may lead to unmeasureable and statistically arguable outcome (utility bill creep and increase marginal tax rates)
3. collect tax and pay billions overseas for having the right to live in Australia (buy offsets)
4. avoid direct action that has a significant impact on creating carbon (fuel)

Is this stacking up to be strategically 'good' for Australia? More importantly, can't it be improved?

Tomorrow I get to see my $1000 go to the flood victims when I visit my accountant, mind you this was after I had already donated money.

BINGO......Labor has found another CRISIS to justify their world's thinnest aired high moral ground and ever higher Aussie taxes!!!!

This time it is 'Kevin from Heaven' coming to the rescue of the Somalis, with CRISIS rhetoric flowing thick and fast back at us 'ever ready to hand over more' taxpayers.

While the rest of the world has paused before handing over ever more money for aid, as it tends to find its way into the hands of the local Islamist trouble makers Al-Shabaab who have interrupted UN aid for yonks, Kevin from Heaven charges in to throw mulah around, as if oblivious to local politics.

No mention or hint of understanding that the CRISIS could have been stopped a long time ago by Kevin's flock of Angels at the UN, if it did what it is chartered to do.

Kevin is obviously determined more than ever to spend Aussie's money to secure himself an ever higher position within the UN.

Carbon Dioxide and the Politics of the Carbon Tax

Tired of being told that Carbon Dioxide is “Carbon Pollution”?

Fed up being told that the science of climate change is settled?

Furious knowing that billions of your tax dollars will be given away to a UN Green fund?

Are you sick to death of listening to the Greens leader Senator Bob Brown rant on about his alternative vision for Australia – no coal mines – and one world government?

Angry at being told to suck it up and just accept the higher electricity, water, gas, food, and transport prices?

Upset at being spoon fed nonsense about how renewable energy is the only way to go?

Mad that Julia Gillard broke her promise to you and the Australian people?

Tomorrow I get to see my $1000 go to the flood victims when I visit my accountant, mind you this was after I had already donated money.

Of course, the donation you made is tax deductible. Do you whinge all the time, or is it only most of the time?

PS - If you have to pay $1000, then your taxable income is at least $175,000. If the $1000 amuont is based on joint income, then your incomes are over $200,000.

So stop complaining.

I've debated the odd creationist on-line over the years and I must say that the quality of some of the anti-science, political-zealotry-dressed-up-as-policy-debate in this thread and makes them look like reasonable people in comparison.

Most of them can make a decent fist of pretending to have made a bone fide attempt to read the source materials before dropping all pretence and getting into Marxist/Socialist/Darwinist/Liberal/One World Government stuff.

In any case and on the lighter side....I give you Wind Farms - the hidden truth

Sounds like the same confidence that comes with ignorance that empowered Kevin, Wayne, and Julia to turn a $20B surplus into a $57B deficit within 2 years.

So what's your next point?
